"The Nib Safety Net" – Terms & Conditions

  • Eligibility: This benefit is exclusive to active members of the Creative Rewards program at the time of the accident.
  • Coverage: The 50% discount applies strictly to accidental damage (e.g., dropping the pen) that renders the nib unusable. It does not cover intentional damage, loss of the pen, theft, or normal wear and tear.
  • The Claim: To activate your discount, you must provide a clear photo of the damaged nib and your original order number to oops@yourstore.com.
  • Limitations: This discount is valid for a one-time replacement per pen purchased and applies only to the cost of the replacement nib unit. It cannot be combined with other promotional codes or used for full pen replacements.
  • Availability: We will provide the discount for the exact nib model where stock is available. If the model is discontinued, we will offer a 50% discount on a comparable alternative nib unit.

Engineered Nano-Pigment Performance

The De Atramentis Document range solves the classic dilemma of waterproof line-art: choosing between the convenience of a fountain pen and the absolute permanence of art ink. Unlike raw carbon fluids, this range utilizes sub-micron, nano-ground pigment particles suspended in a highly lubricated carrier fluid. The particles are small enough to pass through modern fountain pen feeds without clogging, yet they form an unbreakable, lightfast, and waterproof structural bond with cellulose paper fibers within minutes of hitting the page. It is the definitive layout choice for pen-and-wash illustrators, botanical sketchers, and legal document signatories.

Honest Note:

This is a professional-grade, nano-pigment archival ink engineered for absolute water resistance. Once cured on paper, it cannot be re-wetted or blended out with a brush—it forms a permanent structural bond with the cellulose fibers. While it runs wetly enough for dip pen layout work, you must flush your fountain pens with specialized cleaner every two weeks to prevent micro-pigment buildup along the feed channels. Never load this ink into vintage latex sac-fillers.

Who is it For?

  • Illustrators using dip pens who apply wash over finished linework
  • Zine makers who need black that photocopies cleanly
  • Calligraphers who need permanent colour for finished pieces
  • Botanical illustrators requiring archival inks

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUSTIONS (FAQ)

Which Document colour should I start with?

Document Black is the primary recommendation — the most versatile and most used colour in the range. Document Sepia is the traditional choice for botanical illustration. Both have standalone product pages with more detailed guidance.

Is Document ink safe in a fountain pen?

Yes, with regular maintenance. Flush every one to two weeks to prevent the waterproofing agent building in the feed. Not suitable for vintage pens with rubber sac filling systems.

What is the difference between Document Black and standard black inks?

Standard black inks are not waterproof — they will run if wet. Document Black is waterproof once dry, making it suitable for pen and wash illustration and photocopy-ready zine work.
