Line, weight and wash
Ink drawing uses three kinds of mark: the line from a nib, the weight from a brush, and tone from a wash. This kit gives you all three. Draw your lines in Carbon Black with the G-nib or the Saji, fill shadows with the brush, then wash Walnut Ink over the dry black for warm tone — the black stays put, the brown moves where you lead it.
Why these inks
Platinum makes Carbon Black to flow through a fountain pen, so it is thinner than a traditional India ink and flows freely from a brush — and if you own a Platinum fountain pen, it goes in that too. Tom Norton’s Walnut Ink stays water-soluble, so you can layer it darker, dilute it lighter or lift it back out with clean water. Between them you have a fixed line and a tone you can keep working.

Which nib should I start with
Yes — Platinum makes it for fountain pens. Flush the pen every few weeks and never let the ink dry inside.
Do I need a sable brush?
No. The Versatil has good snap, holds plenty of ink and is easier to look after. When you want more spring and ink capacity, the Raphaël 8404 is the step up
Where do I buy more nibs?
