The Nib Safety Net

"Gravity Happens. We’ve Got You Covered."

We know the heartbreak of a fountain pen hitting the floor. As a member of our Creative Rewards, you don't have to worry about the 'tines.' If the worst happens, just send us a photo and we'll send you a 50% discount for a fresh start.

"The Nib Safety Net" – Terms & Conditions

  • Eligibility: This benefit is exclusive to active members of the Creative Rewards program at the time of the accident.
  • Coverage: The 50% discount applies strictly to accidental damage (e.g., dropping the pen) that renders the nib unusable. It does not cover intentional damage, loss of the pen, theft, or normal wear and tear.
  • The Claim: To activate your discount, you must provide a clear photo of the damaged nib and your original order number to oops@yourstore.com.
  • Limitations: This discount is valid for a one-time replacement per pen purchased and applies only to the cost of the replacement nib unit. It cannot be combined with other promotional codes or used for full pen replacements.
  • Availability: We will provide the discount for the exact nib model where stock is available. If the model is discontinued, we will offer a 50% discount on a comparable alternative nib unit.

No water pot needed — the field sketcher's essential tool

The Aquash changes the field sketching setup: instead of a separate water container for rinsing and loading a brush, the Aquash holds water in its body and delivers it to the nylon tip through a squeeze-controlled non-return valve. Squeeze the barrel gently to push more water to the tip; release to stop the flow. The result is a self-contained brush that carries its own water supply — essential for urban sketchers and field artists working without a full studio setup. The nylon tip holds its point and provides sensitive response for both fine detail strokes and broader colour washes. The flat-sided barrel prevents the brush rolling off work surfaces, which is one of those small details that reveals that this was designed by people who actually use the tool in the field.

Filling with ink — a note on compatibility

The Aquash barrel can be filled with diluted ink or watercolour as well as plain water. For field work with ink wash, filling with a diluted ink solution allows consistent colour delivery without mixing on a palette. When filling with ink, use water-based inks only and flush the barrel thoroughly with clean water between colour changes. Do not fill with alcohol-based or oil-based media — these will damage the valve mechanism and the nylon tip. Concentrated undiluted pigment inks may clog the valve over time; test dilution levels on scrap paper first.

Honest Note:

Use water-based media only — alcohol-based or oil-based media will damage the valve and tip. Flush thoroughly with clean water after use with ink to prevent residue building in the valve. The non-return valve prevents passive leaking but the brush should be capped when not in use. Tip lifespan depends on use — nylon tips that have been used heavily for textured or rough paper work will show wear over time.

Who is it For?

  • Urban sketchers and field artists who want to paint without carrying a separate water pot
  • Art journallers who use watercolour pencils and want a convenient brush for activating them
  • Anyone who finds setting up a full water-pot-and-brush kit impractical for their drawing context
  • Illustrators who want a clean, portable wash brush alongside dip pen and ink work in a sketchbook

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUSTIONS (FAQ)

How do I clean the brush between different colours?

Gently squeeze the barrel to push water through the bristles and wipe them on a cloth or paper towel until they run clear.

Can I fill the barrel with ink?

Yes, it can be filled with water-soluble inks or thin liquid watercolours, though we recommend dedicated brushes for specific ink types.

Does the brush leak in a pencil case?

No, the Aquash features a secure valve system and a protective cap to prevent leakage during travel.
