Why a paste
A liquid metallic ink is ready to use but fixed in strength. The paste lets you decide: use it neat on a brush for bold, opaque gold with visible body, or add water a few drops at a time until it flows from a pointed nib. Mixing only what you need also means the rest of the jar does not settle and separate the way a liquid can.
Made for dark paper
Like the liquid mica ink, the gold stays bright and reflective on black and dark coloured paper — the traditional use in Japan is for New Year cards and sutra copying.
