Why Luddite
Luddite takes its name from the 19th-century weavers who resisted machines — a statement of intent from a Japanese maker that builds everyday goods from traditional materials. Its canvas comes from Kurashiki in Okayama, where heavy cotton has been woven since the late 1800s: several strands of yarn are twisted together and woven slowly on vintage shuttle looms, which is why it is so dense and hard-wearing. Its denim comes from Okayama too — the birthplace of Japanese jeans.
Choosing your case
Canvas 8-go “Bendy” — the clever one: it folds open 180° into a pen tray, with five individual loops to keep pens apart and two zip pockets for erasers, nibs and small tools. Okayama Denim — the same Bendy case in Japanese denim, which fades and softens with use like a good pair of jeans. Standard — a simple, roomy zip case in the same Kurashiki canvas, for anyone who just wants everything in one place.
