Nikko Manga Pen Nib Set — Complete Manga Dip Pen Starter Kit

The Nikko Manga Pen Nib Set is Tachikawa’s manga starter kit: five nibs — Saji, two G-nibs (chrome and the softer Nume), School and Maru — a free pen holder that takes them all, a trial bottle of Jet Black ink, a nib sample book, and mini manuscript paper with faint guide drawings to ink over. It covers every nib shape a manga page is drawn with, so you can find yours before buying a pack.

Nib Flexibility

Two G-nibs — chrome (springy, firmer) and Nume (softer, opens wider) — plus Saji (smooth, steady), School (firm, little flex) and Maru (ultra-fine)

Line Variation

Bold swell (G-nibs, widest with the Nume); steady, even lines (School, Saji); ultra-fine detail (Maru)

Holder Fit

Free pen holder included — takes all five nibs. All five also fit the Tachikawa T-25 and TAMO

Pack Size

5 nibs (Saji, G chrome, G Nume, School, Maru) · 1 free pen holder · trial bottle of Jet Black ink · nib sample book · mini manuscript paper with faint guide drawings

Nib Material

Steel — the two G-nibs come in chrome (firmer, rust-resistant) and Nume, an aluminium finish (softer, holds more ink)

Additinal Spec

The Nib Safety Net

"Gravity Happens. We’ve Got You Covered."

We know the heartbreak of a fountain pen hitting the floor. As a member of our Creative Rewards, you don't have to worry about the 'tines.' If the worst happens, just send us a photo and we'll send you a 50% discount for a fresh start.

"The Nib Safety Net" – Terms & Conditions

  • Eligibility: This benefit is exclusive to active members of the Creative Rewards program at the time of the accident.
  • Coverage: The 50% discount applies strictly to accidental damage (e.g., dropping the pen) that renders the nib unusable. It does not cover intentional damage, loss of the pen, theft, or normal wear and tear.
  • The Claim: To activate your discount, you must provide a clear photo of the damaged nib and your original order number to oops@yourstore.com.
  • Limitations: This discount is valid for a one-time replacement per pen purchased and applies only to the cost of the replacement nib unit. It cannot be combined with other promotional codes or used for full pen replacements.
  • Availability: We will provide the discount for the exact nib model where stock is available. If the model is discontinued, we will offer a 50% discount on a comparable alternative nib unit.

Built for the manga page

A professional manga page uses different nibs for different jobs. The G-nib draws figures and outlines, swelling from thin to bold with pressure — and this set includes both versions, the springy chrome and the softer Nume, so you can feel the difference for yourself. The Saji and School nibs give steadier lines for backgrounds and panel work. The Maru draws the finest marks — hair, eyes, hatching. The mini manuscript paper carries faint guide drawings, so your first session is spent learning pressure, not staring at a blank sheet.

Nikko, from the Tachikawa family

Nikko is Tachikawa’s sister brand; the nibs are made by the same company. The Nikko G-nib is the one many working manga artists settle on for its consistent line. The nib sample book explains what each nib is for, so when you are ready to buy by the pack, you already know which shape suits your hand.

Honest Note:

The included free pen holder is a basic holder in a random colour — perfectly functional, but if you draw for long sessions a wooden holder such as the Tachikawa T-25 or the TAMO will be more comfortable. The Nume G-nib holds ink well and gives the widest swell, but it is softer and rusts more easily than chrome, so it wears out sooner — wipe it dry after every session. The trial bottle of ink and mini manuscript paper are enough to get started, not to finish a project. One of each nib is a trial quantity: once you find your nib, buy it by the pack.

Who is it For?

• Manga and comic artists picking up a dip pen for the first time
• Illustrators who draw digitally and want to try traditional inking
• A gift for a teenager or adult who draws manga
• Anyone who wants to try Nikko nibs before buying a full pack

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUSTIONS (FAQ)

Should I choose this or the Tachikawa Dip Pen Nib Set?

Choose Nikko for manga and comics — it has two G-nibs, a School nib and waterproof Jet Black ink. Choose Tachikawa for lettering and general drawing — it swaps those for a Nihonji nib and a 3mm C-type calligraphy nib, with indigo dye ink. Both include a Saji and a Maru.

Can I use my own ink?

Yes — any dip pen ink works, waterproof or not. For finished pages you plan to colour, use a waterproof black such as Tachikawa Jet Black or Deleter Black No. 4.

What is the difference between the two G-nibs?

The chrome G is springier and firmer, resists rust and lasts longer. The Nume G is softer and opens wider for a bolder swell, and holds more ink, but rusts more easily and wears out sooner. Try both, then buy the one that suits your pressure.
