Nikko Maru Nib (Mapping Nib)

The Nikko Maru nib is a fine-line mapping/crowquill-style dip pen nib for small, consistent detail work. Alongside Tachikawa and Zebra Maru, it completes Nikko's range beyond the G-nib, giving customers a same-brand option for fine detail to pair with their existing Nikko G-nib.

The Nib Safety Net

"Gravity Happens. We’ve Got You Covered."

We know the heartbreak of a fountain pen hitting the floor. As a member of our Creative Rewards, you don't have to worry about the 'tines.' If the worst happens, just send us a photo and we'll send you a 50% discount for a fresh start.

"The Nib Safety Net" – Terms & Conditions

  • Eligibility: This benefit is exclusive to active members of the Creative Rewards program at the time of the accident.
  • Coverage: The 50% discount applies strictly to accidental damage (e.g., dropping the pen) that renders the nib unusable. It does not cover intentional damage, loss of the pen, theft, or normal wear and tear.
  • The Claim: To activate your discount, you must provide a clear photo of the damaged nib and your original order number to oops@yourstore.com.
  • Limitations: This discount is valid for a one-time replacement per pen purchased and applies only to the cost of the replacement nib unit. It cannot be combined with other promotional codes or used for full pen replacements.
  • Availability: We will provide the discount for the exact nib model where stock is available. If the model is discontinued, we will offer a 50% discount on a comparable alternative nib unit.

Completing the Nikko Range

Nikko's Maru nib sits alongside the G-nib as the brand's answer to fine-detail work. Like other Maru nibs, it produces a small, round, consistent line suited to detail rather than expressive variation — useful for finishing work after the broader strokes of a G-nib are in place. Nikko's own dedicated mapping nib holder (referenced by brush and nib specialists as the correct accessory for this nib shape) is the safest pairing if you don't already own a compatible holder.

Honest Note:

As with all Maru nibs, this is a precision tool rather than a first dip pen — best added once a customer has identified they need finer detail than their G-nib or School nib can deliver.

Who is it For?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUSTIONS (FAQ)

Does this pair with my Nikko G-nib holder?

Not necessarily — Maru nibs need a holder shaped for their tubular body. Check for a Maru-compatible holder rather than assuming your existing G-nib holder will fit.

How does this compare to Tachikawa or Zebra Maru?

All three Maru nibs serve the same fine-detail purpose. Differences between brands are subtle — similar to the G-nib brand differences — and come down to individual feel more than dramatic functional variation.
